I'm lost

I don't have GPS so I'm often lost. Sometimes I'm even lost for words. But today, I'm lost for Kuwaii's winter collection. Leave me stranded on a spooky island with with a smoke monster and a man who never ages. I don't care. So long as I'm wearing this.

I am a stripe-a-holic

My name is Pussycat Black and I am a stripe-a-holic. I have been sober for 3 hours and 11 minutes.

I just can't stop wearing stripey tops. They look so chic and just when you think nobody could come up with a new way of wearing them, they do! When I saw this Satu tee I couldn't resist. Perfect for balmy autumn days, no?

Riding in style

As a kid, I went horse riding all the time. I loved it, even though the place I used to go was run by people who spent most of their time talking about how much they hate 'greenies.' I used to wear tracksuit pants from K-Mart and gumboots. In other words, I looked nothing like this Jolet model in her gorgeous blouse and skirt. I bet if she turned up, all the anti-greenie talk would stop in its tracks. Instead, they'd be coveting her hat. Me? I want the skirt.

Country girl, city girl

Hands up who never knows what to wear in these trans-seasonal times? I was trying to explain this dilemma to the coffee man at my local cafe, but I don't think he quite got my pain and suffering.

Luckily Satu understands. They call this the 'country girl' dress. But personally, I think it does just fine in the middle of Melbourne.

Corsage memories

We didn't have a prom at my school. We didn't even have a year 12 formal. But even if we did, I suspect I would have considered such an event to be a lame bourgeois ritual which I would, naturally, have been above. As in, hello, I-am-so-cool-I-am-going-to-Crossways-for-lunch-thankyou-very-much. No prom for me. No siree.

Sadly, this means I missed out on wearing a corsage. No wonder I'm making up for it now. Thanks Betty Jo for constructing this fancy little number. I love it.

More autumn loveliness

As regular readers of this blog may have already figured out, we are absolutely in love with autumn/winter Dot & Herbey. This cap sleeve tartan top, for example, comes in a delicious shade of raspberry and is just the thing to crisp autumn days. Absolutely perfect for cosy Sunday drives to the country.

The button-down dilemma

I have always loved the way American's call shirts 'button-downs.' So I was sad to recently discover that this term is in fact incorrect when describing a shirt such as the lovely Dot and Herbey piece pictured above. Apparently 'button-down' is supposed to refer specifically to shirts with an American button down collar, as designed by the Brooks Brothers in 1896.

I don't care! I hear you say. Well, fair enough. Do titles mean anything when you are wearing such an adorable shirt on a crisp autumn day?

Frankly Forest

You know, traipsing through the forest in hiking boots and polar fleece is not everybody's cup of tea. Some people prefer to be curled up in front of a cosy fire drinking hot chocolate and reading trashy mags. Some people even like to do this stylishly, perhaps in this forest green cashmere that Dot and Herbey dub the Frank wool dress. Frankly, we love.

Annie Hall vistis Brunswick 2010

It's 2010. Annie Hall is being filmed in Brunswick. Diane Keaton is wearing this exact outfit and looks absolutely ravishing. We fall madly in love with this waistcoat. Then we find out there are a limited number stocked just down the road in a lovely little shop called Pussycat Black. We run. Now.

Winter dream

Around this time every year I get excited. And this is pic is why. Boots, tights and oh-so-cosy throw on dresses that keep you warm and snug on cold rainy days. Combine with red lipsick and mulled wine. Bring on winter, we say.
